39-year-old Konaka Masaru had been a photographer with a bit of fame, but he is now a struggling photographer who cannot eke out a living photographing cats and portraits of deceased people. One day, he succumbs to the invitation of a trainee model, Hayashibara Ami, and has a one-night stand with her. Furthermore, Ami deliberately visits Masaru’s house and makes provocative comments to his wife, Naoko. So Naoko, who has been cheerfully supporting her husband, hands divorce papers to him and leaves home with their 7-year-old daughter, Dodo. Masaru has had an affair in the eighth year of their marriage … He cannot bear to submit the divorce papers. Several days later, Naoko returns to their home with Dodo. She says she would like to live together with him until she has money. Naoko believes the divorce papers have been submitted. Inwardly happy for the ‘chance to win back Naoko’s heart’, Masaru agrees to live with her. On the other hand, Naoko lists the rules for living together – 1) use formal speech; 2) stay out of each other’s private lives; and 3) keep common spaces clean and tidy. And so, the three of them begin a bizzare life together …
