Girl group Pink Dolls, made up of the lead singers Jenny and A-rang, former backup dancer, Eun-ju and rapper, Shin-ji, are struggling to get their name out. In the new office the group’s agency moves into, Eun-ju finds an old videotape of an untitled music video.

The song recorded on the video is dark and gloomy – but also mesmerizing. The group showcases the number and receives immensely positive feedback, their best ever. Excited, the Pink Dolls decide to release the number as their new single under the title “White” and begin a gruelling practice regimen. It’s at that time strange things start happening to each member.

Main vocalist Jenny passes out during a practice session. Young A-rang becomes hostile towards her close friend Shin-ji and suffers a bad reaction to a cosmetic. Shin-ji becomes very competitive and jealous, and is injured during a photo shoot. Believing the series of suspicious incidents is related to the music video, Eun-ju looks into the mystery behind it. Soon, she too, falls victim to the curse.

Agnosia

At first glance Agnosia seems like a historical thriller. Maybe with some supernatural elements. When you start watching the movie, you think you’re going to watch an industrial espionage thriller. As the movie progresses, you get more and more confused about the movie genre: At some point looks like is going to turn into a horror movie, then it shifts to thriller, then looks more like a love story…

And that is what essentially is. Everything in the movie is a vehicle to narrate a touching, passionate and dark love story. Know that and you’ll enjoy the movie. Watch the movie expecting a thriller, or horror, or whatever and you’ll be disappointed, bored and a little angry, as most Spanish critics (being from Spain I argue a lot defending this movie) seem to be.

Moving on from that, you get an interesting screen writing (in which, again, everything, including the disease that names the movie, is a device for the love story) with a great directing work (although at some points the movie rhythm is a bit irregular), a great setting and photography, and astonishing performances. You’ll find a lot of influences, from Poe to pulp magazines, even some Brian De Palma, which may sound weird, and in fact it is. But for me, works perfectly.

The only reason it doesn’t get a 10 is for the minor flaws mentioned above.Not being a fan or romantic movies, I can’t say it’s the romantic movie of the decade. But it’s the only romantic movie of the decade that has touched me.

As children, Yeon-Jae and Eun-Suk were friends, but Eun-Suk now acts as if he does not know her. Dr. Eun-Suk informs Yeon-Jae that she has a tumor and needs another examination. Yeon-Jae goes back to the company and asks for a day off to get the medical examination. Instead of getting the day off, Yeon-Jae is assigned to be a guide for high profile client Andy Wilson.

Kang Ji-Wook (Lee Dong-Wook) is the only son of Line Tour’s company president. He is good looking, physically fit, rich and the successor to the company, but he isn’t excited by anything. His father planned his marriage to Im Se-Kyung (Seo Hyo-Rim), the daughter of conglomerate Seo-Jin. Im Se-Kyung is beautiful, but highly arrogant. She’s the one who arranged for musician Andy Wilson’s one day tour.

Meanwhile, the tour for Andy Wilson encounters turbulence. A misunderstanding for his lunch includes pork which is forbidden by Andy Wilson’s Muslim religion. Andy Wilson becomes furious and returns to his hotel. To make-up for the misunderstanding, Yeon-Jae visits Andy Wilson’s hotel with traditional Korean rice cake which she believes he may enjoy. Shortly later, Andy Wilson discovers that his ring is missing. Im Se-Kyung and Andy Wilson both suspect that Yeon-Jae stole the ring. Yeon-Jae vehemently denies taking the ring, but she is eventually slapped by Im Se-Kyung.

Yeon-Jae, under a lot duress, finally goes to the hospital for her re-examination. Yeon-Jae is informed by Dr. Eun-Suk that she has cancer and is expected to live for only 6 more months.
